FAQ

What exactly is Flamenco Rising?

Flamenco Rising is an intimate, women-only retreat rooted in flamenco as a lived cultural language.

It is not a dance course, a performance experience or a wellness retreat.
It is a carefully curated time and place to experience rhythm, movement, culture and daily life, without pressure, expectations or outcomes.

You come to live the experience fully — not to take something home to practise.

Is this a flamenco dance course?

No.

There is no technical training, no choreography to memorise and no final performance.
Movement is guided by rhythm (compás), listening and bodily awareness.

The focus is on experience and presence, not skill or progress.

Do I need previous dance or flamenco experience?

No previous experience is required.

Flamenco Rising is open to women with any level of movement background, including complete beginners.
Curiosity, openness and a willingness to move are far more important than experience.

How physically demanding is the retreat?

The retreat is engaging but not exhausting.

Daily sessions involve standing, moving and working with rhythm, balanced with rest, free time and shared meals.
Participation is always optional, and guests are encouraged to listen to their bodies.

This is not an athletic or performance-based experience.

What does a typical day look like?

Days follow a natural, unhurried rhythm rather than a strict timetable.

Mornings usually focus on rhythm, body awareness and movement.
Afternoons allow space for rest, conversation or solitude.
Late afternoons may include further embodied practice or cultural context.
Evenings slow down into shared meals, voice, silence or informal moments together.

There is no final show or presentation.

The retreat lasts 5 nights / 6 days.

This duration allows the experience to unfold naturally, without rushing, while still remaining immersive and complete.

How many women participate?
